Today, i recognize my gratitude for the callings in my life beyond wife and mother. Yes, those are my most important, most fulfilling roles, but i believe the Lord has given me additional passions to serve on this planet.
This week i am attending training to finish my certification as a childbirth educator. This in addition to doula work is something i've become extremely passionate about: Supporting women in pregnancy and birth is simply one of the most incredible opportunities one could ever experience and i look forward to doing more of it.
i read THIS article today that resonates so deeply with my current path. We as mothers must follow our bliss and discontinue putting off these passions for which our Lord has given us talents to perform.

Anne Morrow Lindbergh, in her book “Gifts from the Sea,” sums it up most poignantly. She writes, "We are hungry, and not knowing what we are hungry for, we fill up the void with endless distractions, always on hand — unnecessary errands, compulsive duties, social niceties. And for the most part, to little purpose. Suddenly the spring is dry; the well is empty.”
Lindbergh writes that we need a slice of solitude, every day, in which to center ourselves as women. “Quiet time alone, contemplation, prayer, music, a centering line of thought or reading, of study or work. It can be physical or intellectual or artistic, any creative life proceeding from oneself. It need not be an enormous project or a great work. But it should be something of one’s own. Arranging a bowl of flowers in the morning can give a sense of quiet in a crowded day — like writing a poem, or saying a prayer. What matters is that one be for a time inwardly attentive.”
A few months back i was feeling that my cup was empty. i had nothing left to give and i wondered where i had gone wrong. As i searched and prayed for guidance from Heavenly Father, i realized that when i nurtured these gifts, these intuitions, He would expand my abilities and help me to serve in new capacities.
And so i am grateful for this learning curve i am rounding. Enjoying every moment...
